The Australian Government recently signed a deal with Amazon Web Services (AWS) that will provide Australia-wide AWS cloud service access. With this deal, federal, state and territory agencies and departments and public universities and government-controlled corporations benefit from the multitude of cloud services available on AWS today. The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA), negotiated the deal with Amazon Web Services
According to Amazon Web Services, 42 AWS cloud services were awarded protected certifications by the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC). This becomes the highest data security certification in Australia for cloud service providers. Some cloud services that received the green light include computing, storage, network, database, security, analytics, application integration, management and governance services.
“Government agencies regularly engage AWS services, each with separate contracts. The new arrangement represents an opportunity to provide cost reductions through efficiencies of scale.”
– Stuart Robert, Minister for Government Services
One security service that can now be implemented under this all of Government deal is Auraya’s EVA for Amazon Connect. EVA is a voice biometric extension for Amazon Connect, enabling voice biometric enrolment, verification and authentication in telephony and digital channels for secure and seamless user experience. This means that government agencies can utilise EVA in their call centres and digital channels to achieve better outcomes such as, reduced agent handling times and secure digital interactions and regulatory compliant second factor authentication.
Using EVA, government organisations can provide secure user authentication and better protect critical government and citizen data and improve protection from cyberattacks and fraudulent activities.
